🙂 LOL
BambihunterParticipantI’ve had such bad luck with Taurus on both revolvers and semi-auto’s I’ll likely skip this one even though I pretty much buy one of every 10mm offering.
BambihunterParticipantFor those that love the feel of the SIG, but not have good luck, check out the long out of production Star Megastar 10mm. They can be picked up for less than a grand usually on GB. Mags are scarce and expensive too though.
I’ve got a LOT of 10mm’s and though quite accurate, it is not the most accurate. It isn’t the highest capacity, but at 14+1, it is respectable. It just feels so good in the hand and its weight helps absorb recoil and I sincerely think they are the strongest 10mm semi-auto made, even more than S&W’s 10xx series which people often say is.BambihunterParticipantSprings are often changed out with changes in power of the ammo. If you are shooting hot hand loads or Double Tap / Buffalo Bore, then you’ll want a stiffer spring. If not, factory is just fine. A lot of people swap them out thinking they are saving their frame from being battered. Adding a stiffer spring than needed, just causes the slide to slam forward with more force potentially battering the front instead of rear. The manufacturer knows what’s best spring rate for average (downloaded to barely above .40 S&W levels) ammo.
BambihunterParticipantMost likely you were shooting downloaded ammo commonly available commercially that are barely above .40 S&W levels. Load them up to true 10mm Norma specs, or try Buffalo Bore or Double Tap, and you’ll have them too.
I will say that the 3rd gen Glock 10mm’s are my favorite gen until they release a Gen 5.
BambihunterParticipantVery nice write-up Shadow. Good to see you on here. 🙂
Allegedly the Accu-Guide marked mags were the latest version and contain the white followers. I’ve heard from an ex-S&W employee that those were shaped slightly different but to my naked eye, I can’t find any differences. I’ve had mag retention issues with one gun with the original yellow follower mags, but same gun did not with any Accu-Guide mags. I think it is more the gun than the mag however and of course the follower shouldn’t affect that.Attached is the original 10mm safety recall alert on the grips discussed above.
I’ll add also to the list there was a recall on the frame mounted decocker guns of the 3rd generation. For 10mm’s, these are the 1026 and 1076. See attachment below. If there are not two dots under the decocking lever, the recall has not been done.
Here’s my now infamous “10-ring” showing all 6 models of 10mm.

The ones that are consistently among the most accurate are the earlier Dan Wesson Razorback’s and Springfield Omega Match. Most true 1911 clones have been quite accurate in my experience though I haven’t shot some of the newer inexpensive brands. The only guns that I have owned in the caliber that I was unable to find ANY that were accurate were the AMT Javelina long slide model.
I have shot but not yet bought any new SIG’s. I hope they come out with a DA/SA with frame decocker without frame rails (if you know of one I missed in 10mm, please let me know).
People often ask when they hear of how many 10’s I’ve got what my favorite one to shoot is. They are surprised by the answer. Star Megastar. It could just be because it fits me just perfectly, I don’t know, but I love shooting that model. That said, a G20 is on my hip when I am in the woods, and G29 concealed in the city.BambihunterParticipantI know Gen 2 NFML (u-notch) works in 5th gen and 5th gen G20 mag works fine in my 3rd gen G29 and everything in between.
It was the 4th generation that added the ambi magazine release cuts. Now I have to decide if I want to swap out dozens of NIB 4th gen for the newer style, keep some of those and get new ones, or what.
BambihunterParticipantThe 10mm sure has seen a resurgence from when the original forum was launched. I have loved the 10mm since the beginning and will until my end.
