Last week I bought a TISAS YUKON from Battle Hawk Armory.
$619 plus a $10 off coupon, then $29 for 2 day shipping and she landed at my FFL $638. No Tax.
My FFL charges $20. No Tax.

      $658 total,

Between weather and work, I have not been able to do more than fondle and dry fire.
Looks like work this week will be slow because of weather. Hopefully I can get out and suffer the temps long enough to shoot a box or 2.

      Very nice!!!

I have one of their Stingray 9mm pistols and if I didn’t already have a SIG Nightmare Carry set up in 10mm, .357 SIG and .38 Super I would buy one of these in a heartbeat…

So far, I’ve regretted buying it.

The frame to slide fit is less than good. SDS didn’t think that it was bad and warned me that if I sent it to them and determined that it was within spec, I’d be charged $60. They were unable to give me said specs based on “proprietary dimensions”. What BS! My read is that it is totally subjective on their part.
What incentive do they have to return me a good gun?

I emailed the Tisas factory in Turkey. They flat out told me that the gun CANT BE BAD because they check every gun before it leaves the factory.
We all know that nothing out of spec EVER leaves any factory. Give me a break.

After my 1st range session where I shot 200 rnds of weak LAX 180 fmj (1059 fps), the barrel lost lockup.

I sent it back 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard back from them.

Confidence is low at this point.

      I’ll try again.

I don’t feel that it should have this much play.

What do the barrel link/link ping/lower lugs/slide stop pin look like? Are they showing excessive where?

      I need to update this.

I feel that the frame to slide fit was a bit too sloppy. i tried to contact Tisas / SDS 3 times. Nothing. My 4th effort was via email and they had me make a vid to shoe=w them. I did. They claim that it was “in tolerances”, despite that they couldnt quantify what the tolerances were. I emailed Tisas in Turkey. They told me “it cant be too sloppy because it wouldnt get out of the factory that way. No BS, they actually said that.
The weather and work prevented me from getting a chance to run it. Finally I get to the range. I had some LAX weak sauce (1059 fps) that was perfect for a break in session. I ran 50 , field stripped and wiped down, then the rest 150. Accuracy was acceptable, but I found that the rear sight was misaligned enough that I was in the 8 – 9 ring at 15 yrds.
When I cleaned it at home, I found the barrel lock up to be very sloppy.

      Heres a vid.

That was the final straw. Yesterday it jumped into the FedEx world to go back to SDS. We’ll see how they handle it and what they do.

      Stay tuned.

terdog the post with the video needed to be approved. They were shown to the moderators as hidden post.
I approved the one of those post so the video and info would show.

Not sure why that happens in the new forum!

That was the first place that I checked. I did not see any abnormal wear but I did see/ feel some slop.
We shall see what Tisas SDS says.

0.001″ is the standard for a match grade 1911. I have read that 0.010 is the average for non-match grade 1911’s but I don’t know the source of that number. In general if the gun has acceptable accuracy and reliability, I would pay it no attention in an “off-the-shelf” 1911. This is especially true in a $750 NIB gun with the other features of the Yukon.

If there is no unusual wear, this is fixed by fitting a different height barrel link. I will also say that the fact they don’t share a spec doesn’t mean they don’t have one. Metrology is a complex topic that is beyond the skill of most 1911 owners. If they published values they would open the flood-gates of returned guns that were actually just owners that didn’t know how to measure the play accurately.

You do you, but I would not send back a gun that was accurate and reliable for this amount of play with no unusual wear pattern.

That play has developed in the 1st range session. Seems that it’s more than it should be.
Guess that I’ll need to wait and see what Tisas says.
      Thanks for the info.

Got a email today saying that it’s on its way back.
Obviously they aren’t sending back a new gun or they’d need my FFL info.
Hopefully they include a note telling me what they did.

It’s supposed to be delivered Monday.

      UPDATE

They returned the gun. No info, just a tracking #.
The letter inside said that they replaced both the slide and the barrel.
The front sight was off center, so I ordered a sight pusher and adjusted it.
It seems to shoot fine if I do my part.
      I ran 50 rnds of S&B 180 FMJ, 25 rnds of Sig 180 FMJ, 5 rnds of
sig V Crown JHP, 5 rnds of Underwood 115 Grn Xtreme Defender & 5 rnds of Underwood 200 grn Hard Cast.
      Not a single hiccup.

I found that both front and rear wear misaligned.
I ordered a sight pusher from Amazon.
Got them centered and will test it this week.

That’s a nice sight pusher all right. I bought a cheapy for a Glock. It works, but not sure how durable it will be.
Glad your Yukon is working for you now. They sure are handsome 1911s.

      Thanks BillinTexas.
The Yukon isn’t 100% yet. I’ll work it a bit more before I give up on it.
