For years I was skeptical of the “PLASTIC FANTASTIC” pistols. However I opted for my first being the G-29 because the parts for the S&W10xx series were being discontinued and I was seeking a new conceal carry option. So I purchased the little G-29 3.78″ barrel in my favorite caliber 10mm.
The more I used it the more I came to appreciate the simplicity and the trade off of frame weight.
They also would utilize the G-20 15 round magazines to carry even more ammo.
I got caught up in the “Don’t shoot lead bullets!” in the factory barrels because of the polygonal rifling. Being a bullet caster I opted to get an aftermarket barrel for the purpose of shooting my cast bullets. I purchased the Storm Lake 3.78″ factory length 10mm barrel and a 40S&W conversion for the G-29. This provided great accuracy for the 10mm but with 40S&W brass being more abundant made for practice with the same “grip & trigger feel” as well as sight picture for target acquisition.
Also conversion barrels were also available chambered in 357SIG and 9x25Dillon to add even more flexibility to the platform of this pistol.
These barrels were from Lone Wolf Distributors so I just had to add them to my collection. They have all functioned very well allowing me to play with the other cartridges.

Eventually added the GLOCK 20 SF to my collection addiction. Found a law enforcement officer wanting to sell his G-20SF locally with a lot of extras in the deal to include night sighs installed. I changed to a “Non Captive” recoil system using the Wolff Gun Springs steel recoil rod and have the 22lb recoil spring (stays installed) and 24lb recoil spring more for testing when needed. Just like I did with the G-29, I added a bunch of aftermarket barrels just because I had the handloading equipment for all of the cartridges for these conversions. Again, to provide flexibility for testing things as needed or just for the fun of it!
Pictures shown below of the original package and of the conversion barrels. Oh and a recent addition was a 9″ 10m barrel for the heck of it!

Shown are the cartridges that I can use from the G-20 with barrel swaps.

I avoided Glocks for years because I just knew I wouldn’t like them at all. Then I got a Glock 20 Gen 4 10mm. Now all my semi auto pistols are Glocks.

I have more Glock pistols than any other brand, included in these are my 2 10MMs. They’re not pretty but they sure do work.

The only downside I can think of to the Glock platform is they are thick boys. That does make them a challenge in conceal in certain situation, and also makes them difficult for some shooters to grip.

I have seven different Glocks in my safe. Two 10mm’s, two 40’s and one 9mm that are mine, and two 9mm’s that belong to children that still live at home. Three of them were purchased as bare frames and completed with Lone Wolf parts, the other four are pretty much factory stock.

Until very recently a Glock 20 was my EDC and had been for many years. On a whim I switch to a 1911 for a couple weeks, and now am carrying my Witness. Those guns both go inside the waistband a bit easier, and ride closer to the body when owb in a pancake holster due to their thinner profile. But they are heavy compared to the Glock, and probably it will reclaim it’s title as primary EDC before the end of the month.

I just traded a G19 gen3 with Agency slide/match grade barrel for a G20SF with two 15 round mags, he didn’t like the snap of felt recoil of the 10mm, I’ve owned several G20’s in the past… yes they slipped through my fingers for other enticements, I’m glad I now have another 10mm… I’m not much for custom guns, Glocks included.. give me plain jane slide anyday… I like this new G20SF
