      Hello!

First post! Buying a Glock 29sf in a couple months. I have 500x Montana bullet works 200gr hardcast WNFP bullets and 500x brass.

I plan to use Longshot powder. In my research, Glock chambers in their 10mm are generous?

Anybody have a good crimp diameter? I want to start reloading since I have time. I’m kinda working backwards as you want to use the gun you are using by the plunk test to measure headspace, crimp, COL fit etc…but I don’t have the pistol yet. Glock owners, any final COL for this bullet? Crimp diameter?

Also read that Buffalo Bore used 7.1gr Longshot for this bullet/weight?

      Thanks!

Haven’t yet reloaded for 10mm but have loaded thousands of 357, 9mm, 45acp, 38spl. Any tricks for the 10mm?

Well I don’t see that info under my documentations. However, 7.1 grains would be a conservative loading!
The Glock Factory BBL chamber is 0.434″ if you measure any more on the spent case the load might be too hot.

In my G-29 I have non captive recoil 21 lb spring set.
Suggest 8.0 to 8.4 grains for your testing
Muzzle Velocity: 1215 fps from 5″ BBL
      Muzzle Energy: 655 ft. lbs
      Star Line – Brass
      C.O.A.L.: 1.2550”
      Primer: Large Pistol
Case: Diameter 0.4215” Crimp Diameter 0.4215” to 0.4220″
Powder Charge Weight: LongShot 8.4 grains

Thanks! I’ll do an initial crimp now at the max but will crimp tighter (if needed) once I have the barrel.

Jake not sure what die set you will be using for your ammo.
Be sure with cast bullets to seat to the proper depth without any crimp being applied. That will help to not shave any bullet material on the case mouth. When the bullet is in motion and crimp starts before being fully seated it closes up and can scrape the bullet or crush the casing.

After you get them fully seated you can then apply the crimp to the edge of the case mouth just enough to have a slight taper at the measurements listed above. Cast bullet that are 0.4015″ might like a crimp edge at 0.4215″ and bullets at 0.4020″ about 0.4220″.

Now avoid using the LEE Factory Crimp Die to finish a cartridge…WHY you might ask? With cast and plated bullets it is possible to under size the bullet using the FCD. I have noticed this in my personal experience and under sized cast bullets can be loose in the casing. Also smaller cast bullets can lead the bore.

      Good luck with your project.

I’m using a Lee carbide set.

I normally use a Lyman M die for flaring the cases on cast bullets. What I meant was I will seat the bullet on the flared case and not crimp (or very little) until I get the firearm. 1.25” is the proper COL for this bullet?

      Thanks for responding!

Forgot to add, interesting tidbit you mentioned on the Lee FCD! Thinking back, I do remember mine doing exactly they in my 45ACP. Although in my case it’s helpful as my 45acp mold sometimes produces an oversized round of .454” of course I PC than size through the bullets back to .452”

I could load a dummy round using my Lee set, pull the bullet after it’s “complete” and see if the FCD did indeed shrink its total caliber.

      Thanks!

1.205 COAL I found to run in the 29 with that bullet. 7.2 be-86 made a nice load.

I use the Montana HC 200gr WNFP-Coated bullet and had a few misfeeds in my G20.5 at 1.25″ COAL. I shortened to 1.24″ COAL and it worked in my pistol without further problems.
I use a .422 crimp after seating, basically just straightening out the flare of the casing. I usually load .5gr less than max book load; using A#5, A#9, BlueDot and CFE-Pistol.

Thanks for the responses everybody! Finally bought the G29 but it sits in jail for 10 days in the Peoples Republic of Commiefornia. Will also be using Longshot powder.

Late reply, but if this bullet is the same profile as the DT 200 WFN, they have to be seated quite deeply in order for the bullet meplat to clear the interior of the magazine. 1.230″ was where I ended up to allow loading the magazine to capacity.
