Love my two 10mm: RIA Tac Ultra MS (upgraded) and Tanfoglio Witness Hunter. Now I’m thinking of adding a 3rd, maybe a 5 inch model?
When I think of out-of-the-box accuracy, most people agree the Sig p210 and the CZ75, are hard to beat in the 9mm world. Do such guns exist in the 10mm world? Even though I love my long slide Witness Hunter, I still feel my CZ SP01 is considerably more accurate. What gives? Any thoughts?

      Afternoon revpdp,
As for “out of the box” accuracy, I’ve yet to shoot a 10 that is more accurate than my P220 Elite. My RIA Ultra FS HC 10mm, and G20 do fine, but the P220 is just amazing

When you mention the Sig P220, is that the Legion model? I don’t see any of the older camo versions anymore. Also have been able to compare it to the 320 X10?

I have not shot one, but the P220 came immediately to mind as a good bet for out of the box.

My Witness Match is a tack driver, as is my Witness Stock III (38 super, not 10mm). These higher end Tanfoglio products would also be high on my list.

I do like the Tanfoglios. Are those that you mentioned the older models? Im seeing the Defiant Stock 2, and Defiant Ltd. Master, etc., but only in silver. I also wonder how those 4.75in. barrel lengths compare to the 6 in. Witness Hunter I have. The action and trigger on the WH is superb, but I do not seem to be as accurate with it as my CZ SP01. I’d hate to fork over some high dollars only to find it’s no better than what I have now.

I’ve got ~40 10mm’s in my collection but there are countless duplicates. The ones that are consistently among the most accurate are the earlier Dan Wesson Razorback’s and Springfield Omega Match. Most true 1911 clones have been quite accurate in my experience though I haven’t shot some of the newer inexpensive brands. The only guns that I have owned in the caliber that I was unable to find ANY that were accurate were the AMT Javelina long slide model.
I have shot but not yet bought any new SIG’s. I hope they come out with a DA/SA with frame decocker without frame rails (if you know of one I missed in 10mm, please let me know).
People often ask when they hear of how many 10’s I’ve got what my favorite one to shoot is. They are surprised by the answer. Star Megastar. It could just be because it fits me just perfectly, I don’t know, but I love shooting that model. That said, a G20 is on my hip when I am in the woods, and G29 concealed in the city.

Evening RevPDP, mine started out as the P220 Elite Hunter with the camo print, the camo that ever so slightly startled to peel, so Sig offered to strip and bead blast it for free, when it came back from the factory with the beautiful stainless finish, you could see the whole name “P220 Elite” on the slide

For my money, it’s hard to beat Dan Wesson’s. I have had a few and they have never disappointed. Everyone that dry fires either my V Bob or my current Specialist or any others I’ve had in the past are always Blown Away by how smooth and sweet the trigger is.
For me great accuracy starts with a great trigger.

I saw a report on a Dan Wesson Bruin, which is a long slide 1911 and the accuracy was not that great. Which is surprising because Dan Wesson are known for being very accurate. As far as the Sig P220 I’m seeing the Elite and the Legion version. Do you know what the difference is between both of those? I’m thinking the Legion is the up updated model of the elite.

No love here for the Ruger SR1911 10MM? Have one and it shoots well and has less felt recoil that other 10MM’s that I have shot, I think due to being ported.

I have a Ruger SR1911 in 10mm. I ordered it pretty much right when they were announced. If it wasn’t the same day, it was only a day or two later. Mine does not have a ported barrel, and to my knowledge that is not a factory option, though I have no doubt it would help with recoil. The full length guide rod and bull barrel also add weight right where it will help.

Fine firearm. Above average accuracy. Extremely well featured for the price point. Does not shoot as laser accurate as my Witness Elite Match.

        Hello sqlbullet,
I know you’re real fond of your Witness Elite Match. Did IFG rename the pistol, or is there a current model that replaces the WEM? I’m assuming the “laser accuracy” is also due in part to your reloads? Is there a big drop-off in accuracy using factory ammo?

I don’t see it in the IFG line. Tanfo still makes it though:

          https://www.tanfoglio.it/it_IT/prodotti/sport-and-competition-steel/match

I don’t really loads for accuracy in pistol, just for make my range money go farther. As a result, I can’t say I have ever put factory and handloads side by side in an accuracy test. I will see if I can put some targets together in the next few weeks.

Edit: Here is one on Gunbroker – https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1027445037

Little pricey for my taste, but that may be the new norm for this gun.

Second Edit: There are a number of Limited Pro and Stock I/II/III models on gunbroker for similar or less money. I searched semi-auto pistols filter 10mm and tanfoglio.
