I have had the same experience with my Tisa GI model in 45 ACP. I wanted to be WET with oil for the first 500 rounds or so. Also didn’t like eating SWC if they were even a thousandth over COAL. But after 400-500 rounds it settled in.
About the only difference between it and the actual USGI 1911’s in the family are the Tisas has a much tighter chamber and as a result still won’t eat a handload that is at all out of spec. I guess that is a good way to tighten up the QC on handloading.
If I was forced to pick between the Girsan and the IJ, I would opt for the IJ. If I was forced to buy a Girsan right now I would probably opt for the new 2311 Hunter, which is a longslide 2011 style 10mm.
