Anyone have any experiences with GRT? I downloaded it last night and installed it on a linux box I use for personal development. The interface took a minute to get the hang of, but it seems to perfectly usable. The data it output seemed to match most of my actual tests in real world.

Curious if anyone else has ever used it.

It appears to be somewhat conservative. I ran simulations for 10mm Auto, 180 grain Speer GDHP, using the three powders Alliant lists in it’s data: 2400, Blue Dot and Unique. In all three cases the Alliant max charge was reported by GRT as overpressure by about 2K PSI.

I plan to use this to try to get a better handle on some of the non-canister powders I have, as well as better guidance for some of the cast bullets I use. Having GRT’s data be conservative is a benefit.

Yes the pressures are quite disturbing, not sure if I did something wrong of what have you…

Looks like the projectile lengths are too long. I don’t have any 200 grain XTP’s to check, but I did check the 180’s. The database shows a 180 grain XTP as 0.6614″ in length. Mine are 0.6210″. Subbing in my length value brings the pressure back to the expected values.

I also noted that the software has the 10mm Auto max pressure set to 33,359, not 37,500. It seems a careful review of the saved values vs real world is needed for each load.
