10mm semi-auto handguns / Just Got My Fourth 10mm Pistol
« on: December 18, 2017, 06:50:05 PM »
EAA Witness in 10mm with a 40mm barrel and spring added to it so I can shoot both calibers. Fourth pistol, one carbine, and one Mechtech 10mm CCU. This is my only double stack in pistols, though. The carbine uses Glock double stack mags, but I do not own any Glocks.

What can I say, I like 10mm.

....but it was such a pain in the butt to disassemble my 1911 and mount it in the Mechtech, that I decided to give ANOTHER brand carbine a try, this time with a dedicated lower. So I went to Gunbroker and bid on a TNW ASR Kryptek Red in 10mm. It uses Glock magazines so I will get to also fit a few more rounds in. It also disassembles like a survival rifle so I can fit it in small spaces.

A federal judge today granted an injunction to prevent California's new high capacity gun magazine ban from taking effect. You mean some one actually found a sitting federal judge that AGREES it violates the Second Amendment? Hope it stands.

Reloading / So I Finally Had It With Mama........
« on: February 14, 2016, 06:35:44 PM »
...............complaining every time I reload in the house. So I am building me a reloading shed/man cave in the back yard. I already have the outer walls up, the place wired for electricity. A window air conditioner and a space heater for temperature control. Bought a used bench with a vice that has a drawer, a second shelf, and a row of florescent lights above the bench. Two rows of LED lights for the main lighting. Already figured out my hose wireless phone will reach out to it. Got a new Lee Auto indexing turret press to go alongside my old Reliable Lee Challenger press. The insulation is in. The drywall is going up. After the drywalling is done about the only two things left are the flooring and final painting.

Range reports / So I Decided To Get Serious

And see what my Marvin The Martian highly modified Buckmark would do. After warming her up fine tuning the red dot, here was 3 mags of 10 rounds each at 25 yards.

An by highly modified I mean I took a Browning Buckmark, threw on a Tactical Solutions 10 1/2" fluted barrel, and mounted a BSA Red Dot scope on it. Tactical Solutions doesn't even MAKE these barrels any more.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Oh Boy!

Just made a swap on Ammobrasstrader. He wanted some .308" bullets and any Greek surplus HXP 30.06 brass with a 77 date stamp. (Don't ask me why he only wanted that one year) I ad just taken my 2 M1 Garands to the range and was firing off my Greek stuff and got the empties home and separated out the ones stamped 77. In return for 10 of the HXP' cases and 100 150 grain .308 FMJ bullets I got from him 139 7.62X39 and about 200 10mm cases. My new Mechtech 10mm carbine will be so happy! (And so will my SKS!)

Anybody that needs a certain caliber brass and has a surplus of others I recommend this sight.

Was cruising Gunbroker and saw an auction for these. Notice the caliber on the headstamps.

Off topic area / I Find This Disturbing

The year was 1947. Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, about 68 years ago, numerous witnesses
claim that an Unidentified Flying Object, (UFO), with five aliens aboard, crashed onto a sheep and mule ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico.
This is a well-known incident that many say has long been covered-up by the U.S. Air Force, as well as other
Federal Agencies and Organizations.
However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April, year 1948, nine months after the historic day, the following people were born:

Barrack Obama Sr.
Albert A. Gore, Jr.
Hillary Rodham
William J. Clinton
John F. Kerry
Howard Dean
Nancy Pelosi
Dianne Feinstein
Charles E. Schumer
Barbara Boxer
Joe Biden

This is the obvious consequence of aliens breeding with sheep and jack-asses.
I truly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you.

Gunsmithing / Had A 10mm Case Head Separation
« on: May 17, 2015, 06:22:01 PM »
Yeah, it was a reload, yeah it was nickel plated, yeah it's was already reloaded I cannot tell you how many times. But it left a perfect ring of metal in my Mechtech barrel. Nobody but nobody makes a broken shell extractor for 10mm cartridges. I tried all the standbys. I tried soaking it in Kroil overnight. I tried snagging the head with a cleaning rid. I tried jamming a 9mm case down the barrel. I tried a metal .45 caliber cleaning brush. Nothing but nothing would snag, or catch, or get that darned ring out. I finally gave up and took it to my gunsmith. He poked and prodded and he could not get it out. Finally he put a .45 cal Boresnake through the chamber side (Backwards from normal). He got the metal bristles right against the ring and did not go past the ring with them. Pulled it out backwards and out the ring popped.

Guess I'll be buying a .45 cal bore snake as long as I keep using old brass till it splits or separates.
