I believe I started this similar thread before the forum was revamped.
Anyway, I’m using an M&P 4.6″ with heavier springs.
The bullet I’m using is a copper gas checked, hard cast, 200 grain bullet from Montana Bullet Works sized to .401.
I’d like to get as close to 1200 FPS as possible. I didn’t quite get there using Longshot.
      I also have AA#7, AA#9, Power Pistol and HS-6.

8.4 grains – 8.5 grains of Power Pistol should make 1200 -1220 fps
LongShot 8.4 grains about 1215 fps

I load exactly the same bullet. 12.5gr of AA#9 gives me 1262fps out of the 6″ barrel of my Gun Crafter 1911. The 200gr hard cast RNFP GC from MT bullet works (and similar) seems to be the bear medicine of choice for those who tread in big bear country with the 10mm.

BE-86 is another good option for the 200gr

I’ve been loading a substantial amount of 200gr Gold Dots lately with 8.3 grains BE-86. Per The_Shadow’s testing out of a 5” barrel, I should be getting around 1225 fps out of my P220 Elite

I load the 200gr coated bullet from Montana bullet works. (No gas check)
I use 12.5gr of AA-9 as well. Should get you 1200 plus without too much trouble.

I have been casting, shooting and hunting with my own bullets for sometime now and really LOVE the 10mm. I’m shooting these in a Glock G40 with 6″ KKM barrel, with various loads they are moving along at 1250 to 1325 FPS. I have come to appreciate both Longshot and Accurate #9 with CCI 300 LP primers in Starline brass. Between 8.5/9.0gr. of LS and or 11.5/12.0gr. of #9 you’ll be golden. I have begun powder coating all my cast bullets (even muzzleloaders) and am amazed at how much my groups have shrunk!!! I have 4, .40 caliber bullet molds and this one is my top performer for deer and hog hunting out 100yds. Both as far as on-game performance and accuracy!!! Good luck to you.

Accurate mold – 40-200CC dropping @ .403″ sized to .4015″ averaging 206gr. with my alloy.
Alloy – 30:1 50/50 ratio of COWW and pure/soft lead at 30lbs. with 1 lb. pewter for a 11’ish BHN.
Starline brass – sized and flared case mouth.
Powders – Longshot and Accurate#9 have been my best.
Primer – CCI 300 LP and Winchester LP.
Seating depth COAL – 1.255″ with a moderate squeeze from a Redding Profile Crimp.

Hodgdon’s published max is 8.2 grains of longshot behind a Hornady 200 FMJ for 1172 fps @35,000 psi. If I recall correctly they lowered their max powder charge.

For reference I’m running the same 200gr Montana bullet works hardcast gas checked bullet behind 8.8 grains of longshot seated to 1.236 OAL starline case and Winchester LP primer. I’m getting 1277 FPS out of my legion p220. 20 FPS extreme spread and 8.0 FPS standard deviation.
I’m confident with this load out of my gun. I certainly my wouldn’t recommend this load in any other gun. I know it’s most likely over SAMMI max of 37,500

      New Starline brass
      CCI LP primer
      200gr Brass Monkey coated
      9.7gr Bluedot

This is the load I hunt with out of a sprung, compensated Springfield XDm10 4.5 OSP 5.2″ barrel. It runs at 1230 average with single digit es & SD. This is out of book range so use at your own risk.
