Is this the same ammo that came in boxes of 50? Now in boxes of 25.

According to Mas Ayoob, this is one 10mm round which failed to stop a subject back in the early days of 10mm. It may have been tweaked since then, but just an FYI..

Haha! It's really not much more than a .40 S&W.

Thought so, got these for 25 bucks a box of 50 and now the same store wants 25 bucks for a box of 25.

Very much a sign of the times!  Back in the early days when the FBI changed their mind on the 10mm and everyone thought the cartridge was dead, I had already been handloading my own.  It is the reasons why some document the velocities and gelatin results and I do the pull-downs so others can learn how to they achieve the results.

It is ridiculous that these rounds are more expensive that the 40S&W counterpart.  And then we see all these "what I call glamour boutique projectiles" which are trying to make it in todays market...i.e. Barnes TAC-XP, RIP G2 and a host of others.  Some being better performers than others.

I am saving my brass as I may one day just reload.

I have 4 10's what would be the minimum amount of ammo you suggest to have stocked?

That would depend on how much you intend to shoot.  How many years you intend to shoot?
What needs do you have general plinking, competition, hunting or even a war...(should it come to that) :o
The chamber you shoot the ammo from, loose chambers allow the cases to expand more.
How hot the rounds are, Hotter rounds can shorten case life.
Many cases get lost or split with work hardening of the sizing process of multi uses.
What about projectiles?  Jacketed stuff is always more expensive than plated or cast bullets.
What if the 40cal bullets get harder to find with many LEO's changing to 9mm?  Less contracts or demand can lead to less overall production of products.
What if in the future they stop making 10mm ammo or casings?  I hope not, but who knows what the future holds.

So with all these things to consider what do you consider too much!  1K? 2K? 5K? 10K? More?

Right now my minimum for every caliber I have is 1,000 rounds, except for the 10, I have 2,000. Might bump that up to 2,000 for the 38 Super and 3,000 for the 10's.

Everything else is easy to get, including 22's.
