...SPECIFICALLY, using Accurate #7, #9, Longshot and Blue Dot.

I have lots of experience loading with all of these powders but not necessarily with WFN hardcast bullets.  I am looking for full power and maximum loads you all might have used (firsthand) and liked.

I know the data is out there but if you all could all reply with a few it would be super-great.  :).   I'm in the preparation phase of doing a big write-up with new 10mm pistols, new boolits, new optics and other new stuff.... but need to kinda expedite the research phase so i can get all of this done in due time...so any help you all could offers would be much appreciated.  I'll be shooting out of my G40 MOS w/ 6" KKM, Fusion 6" 1911 longslide custom and Rock island TAC-VZ Commander 1911, all of which have excellent, fully supported barrels with conventional rifling.

Thanks in advance!

Nick

The data I have logged is for 175 gr SWC, not WFN, with AA#9.  I like the velocities and pressure profiles of #9, but it is expensive to reload compared to Blue Dot or Power PIstol.

OP:
My own Sig 220-10 is going on 10 months since purchase and about 2000 rounds down range.

Mostly reloads with 165 or 180 cast lead, a few 180 polycoated.  Have used a half dozen powders, attempting to generate really great bowling pin round.

Haven't loaded with any of your powders but recently picked up my very first jug of Longshot for trial.  Got some favorite recipes to post?

I don't have my data sheet handy right now, but mid-summer did arrive at dandy accurate load using 165 RNL at around 1050fps.  If there is interest I can hunt up the specs.

While I am used to big bore handguns with moderate to heavy loads, I am considerably more accurate with less muzzle flash.  The meaty frame on the 220 is quite adequate for the  heaviest load but I find my old bad habits return if I don't carefully control the ballistic envelop.

My actual 'best accuracy/fastest run' for the falling steel plate rack set at pin distance, has been from the Sig factory 180 load.  Given the spendy experiment, it was gratifying to find a 180 load I actually do manage accurately.

I've got a S&W 610 shorty 3 9/16" that I do manage better/faster  accuracy regardless of the load recipe.
It is less of a challenge to run the falling plate rack with it than with the 220.  In the process of trying to understand what factors give me uneven performance with the 220.

Seems like a worthy first post.

The gun is a Glock 20 with a 5.2" stainless barrel and 20 lb recoil spring

The bullet is a Beartooth 200gr WFNGC

Powder charge is 8.6gr of Longshot

Cases are Star Line

Primers are CCI LP standard

Cartridge OAL is 1.205" with a Lee Factory Crimp

MV is 1,235".

I took a 225 boar with it a couple years ago.  Good killer.

EDIT TO ADD.......................

Due to some issues with arthritis I have downloaded the bullet mentioned above and come up with some good shooting loads.

Everything else the same but 7.5gr of Power Pistol.  Gives about 1,170 fps from the 5.2" bbl and 1,110 fps from a 4.6" barrel.  It is noticeably softer shooting than the Longshot load above and, not including my flubs, is giving about 4" groups at 50 yards with the 5.2" Storm Lake barrel.

I also put together an even lighter load for the G29.  Everything else is the same except it has 7.2gr of Power Pistol.  It gives 1,010 fps out of a OEM barrel for the G29 and 1,060 fps from the OEM G20.  All velocities are from my chrono.

13.2 gr AA #9
Starline case
CCI 300
200 WFN from Accurate mold
1.240" OAL

Should get you 1250+ fps from the G40 or Fusion
